“Nagual”

Basics:  Nagual is about a young, sweet natured girl with an unique, sometimes troubling gift.  She is the reincarnation of the demigod who oversees taking the souls of the dead to the underworld.  Her gift was awoken on her 18th birthday, the age at which she was allowed to start her apprenticeship as a village shaman. Her power allows her to shape-shift into a jaguar at night which grants her the ability to see and transport the souls destined for the underworld.  Upon her travels she meets the souls of many different creatures who's stories help her better understand herself and her purpose.

“Nagual” (Protagonist name TBD)- 18 year old Mezo-American girl who loves nature and the healing abilities of materials she collects in the jungle.  She wears a lot of what she collects and sports numerous pouches and bags.  Her jaguar form wears a saddle that is decorated similarly.

The Souls-  The Souls are to embody different character archetypes and are mostly the souls of dead animals/ creatures.  Each one offers her new points of view on the issues of life and death, right and wrong, good and evil, etc.   They will take the forms of a bird, insect, mammal, reptile, and possibly a human…humanoid…???
